Open for patients

Ashhurst Health Care is calling for expressions of interest from people interested in enrolling as patients ahead of its opening in September. It will be the first general practice clinic in Ashhurst in almost 15 years and is owned and operated by Feilding Health Care Partners. The new facility will make healthcare services more accessible to the wider Ashhurst and Pohangina communities, chief executive Nicky Hart says. “Rural health care has been lagging behind in New Zealand for many years, with many communities not being able to access appropriate health care easily. The opening of the Ashhurst clinic will help alleviate that issue for this community. Ashhurst locals have been without a local primary health centre since 2006, with most people having to travel at least 20 minutes to Palmerston North to access basic medical services. This new centre will come as a big relief to many in the community.” The health centre, at 111 Cambridge Ave, will be staffed by at least one GP and a nurse practitioner.
